Dear Colleagues! The third issue of the journal "Vestnik Roszdravnadzora" for 2023 was published. Recently, the whole world celebrated the anniversary of one of the most striking achievements of medicine of the 20th century - the 40th anniversary of the eradication of smallpox on the planet. In the history of mankind, this is a landmark event - the first and so far the only one when the world community managed to successfully implement a project of an unprecedented scale and finally get rid of a severe infection. The journal "Vestnik Roszdravnadzora" marked this important anniversary with the publication of the article "The global smallpox eradication program and its significance for world health", which included the memoirs of prominent Soviet epidemiologists who led eradication activities in the most difficult conditions of smallpox endemic countries - Afghanistan, Pakistan and Ethiopia.
